You know I used to be able to recite most of the first page of that book from memory.

Which is why I — like Jack — enjoyed Bree’s take on my old friend (obviously not — but closer than most, I actually met him a couple of times) HST. I wish the DC Examiner’s archive didn’t suck so bad else I’d post to my obit of Thompson. Here’s the closest thing I could find.

Anyway, what I loved about Bree’s piece is that I can’t imagine that she — in fact I’m sure she didn’t — enjoyed, say, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. Anyway … here’s to old Hunter.
